This behavior is a behavior that keeps you or anyone attached to you from forming a deep bond. Abuse is never justified so, you should never feel that it is your fault. There are many types of emotional abuse such as
Abusive expectation - where the abuser expects your constant attention and is never satisfied with anything you do.

Emotional blackmail - involves playing on your guilt, fear and compassion to get things done or by threatening to do things that displease you, there is a lot of crying involved and physical torture.

Invalidation - involves denying facts and responsibility
Verbal assaults - are in the form of belittling and criticizing you, your friends or family.

An abuser will try and ruin your projects: If you show interest in some personal project, it is sure that you will receive negative opinion, criticism and behavior that otherwise you never experience. Because your partner will perceive your projects as threatening.

The silent Treatment: If someone gives you a treatment which shows that they want to be aloof but don’t have a problem just speaking at face value then this is a tactic used to get what they want. The abuser is seeking for you to apologize even though you may not be at fault. It’s at this time that you need to stay tall and strong cause giving in to such behavior is encouraging this manipulative behavior to increase.

Listen to Your Inner Voice: This voice is a powerful voice which speaks to you, at first its loud and then it fades away overtime when you experience the same behavior over and over again. The inner voice may say things like: “How can this happen to me?” “I didn’t do anything wrong.” “I don’t deserve this.” “I hate when he/she acts like this.” Feeling afraid, ashamed, ignored, dominated, or manipulated are like warning sirens that scream out, “This isn’t right!”

Don’t comply with the abuser: Abusers want you to comply with them. They want you to say, “You’re right, and I’m wrong.” It seems like a good idea to give in to get the whole episode over but that’s ok for a short time, in the long run you are hurting yourself and the abuser, every time that you give in, you are reinforcing the abusers actions and giving the abuser the power to do it again.

Show Disinterest: If the abuser is trying to make you feel guilty, the best thing you can do is act like you don’t care without actually saying that you don’t care. If the abuser says, “After all I’ve done for you, this is what i get,” then respond with, “I appreciate all your help,” without acknowledging anything further.

Get Away: One of the best things you can do is walk away, leave, when somebody is trying to abuse you. Don’t force yourself to put up with it. You shouldn’t have to listen to it.

How do you and your to be define marriage? is it something that both of you want to share for the rest of your life? What are your expectations after the Big day.

Why do you both need to be married? is it society pressures, Is it financial status and lifestyle?, is it so that someone can organise your home and lifestyle? is it companionship? is it one sided?

Are you both financially compatible? In today’s world one cannot solely depend on one person being the bread earner. What if something goes wrong and the other needs to shoulder the responsibility are you both capable? Do you both share the same values when it comes to material wants? do you both share the same expectations from lifestyle point of view?

Are spiritual values compatible? Do you both value each others upbringing? do you both value each others religious beliefs?

Family Backgrounds: Are you compatible with the other persons family? do you both make a considerable effort to be part of the other persons family? are you trying rather than being part of the family? is it one sided where only one is being flexible while the other partner does not give a damn?

Communication between the two of you? - Do you both compliment each other? When there are disagreements is it one sided where only one has to make up? Can you both bring up a touchy topic and have a conversation with an agreeable solution?

Guy1: I have not cheated yet, but the thought has crossed my mind. I have a crush on this girl at work and she definitely likes me too. The reason i have not gone to try this out yet is because i have a child. Me and wife live with each other because of convenience and the child.

Guy2: I have cheated in the past and its because of a sexual attraction. I guess guys have 2 separate wants one is an emotional want and the other is sexual. Girls on the other hand want the 2 wants to be in one. The tricky part is when you are in a relationship and you get a lot of one want and less of the other that’s when cheating comes into effect.

Girl1: I don’t think its acceptable for someone to cheat on someone else. Its better to end the relationship and start afresh than to cheat on someone.

Girl2: Its important to know that its not always easy to break up and sometimes people do get attracted to other people. In our society breaking up or getting a divorce is a big thing and hence i guess people cheat on each other.
